It
was an exuberant welcome with lots of happy crying and screaming
and, well, you get the idea I'm sure. Oh! And for those following
who joined us last year, we've got the same bus driver again! Can
you believe it? After all the wonderful craziness of last years
trip we were sure we had scared our poor Bulgarian busdriver into
a new career. But according to him, he requested to work with us
again and said that he has been waiting all year for our return.
Keep praying for him, his name is Kircho, as he is still open and
very interested in what it is that makes us so joyful - HAH!
I
can hear everyone laughing in the restaurant right now. We are really
having a great time with one another. Oh and the hotel is just fantastic.
Its a wonderful little boutique hotel with AIR CONDITIONING! HALLELUJIAH!
And some great food.
After
we got checked into our hotel rooms and freshened up, Georgian got
us all onto the bus and off we took for a Gypsy community outside
of Sofia, probably only about 30 minutes away. There used to be
a church in this community but due to financial difficulty they
were unable to ever get a building or place to meet, so without
much of a support system I dont think they were able to grow or
stick around. Im not really sure on the details. But our local Bulgrian
churches are now trying to restore the pastor and his church and
support him, and we were invited last minute to come and minister
in this community. It was a big surprise to the locals as we showed
up in our bus and began a parade through the streets. The local
Bulgarian chruches had a little stage area set up with great worship
music and dancers praising the Lord. As we paraded through the town
singing our songs to the Lord and playing our instruments everyone
came out from their homes and followed our march.
After
a lengthy parade through the town we congregated back by the stage
area where we worshiped, gave an altar call, prayed for pregnant
mothers, drug addicts and the sick. Many came forward and gave their
hearts to the Lord and were moved as they eagerly approached us
for prayer. There were a lot of folks drawn just out of curiosity
as we heard that this was the first time any foreigners had ever
come to their neighborhood. It was quite an evening for having no
sleep for 48 hours, and after a great dinner we all konked out in
our rooms.
Today
we are off for Lom. As we were there last year and saw many miracles
done by the Lord through us, and there are so many faces we will
never forget, I am sure it will be quite a reunion. Pray for us
as we travel. After such a good nights sleep we are all energized
and eager to get on the road. Thank you all for your prayers!
