Hello New Wine Missionaries!

The trip is almost here and I’m sure you are all getting as excited as I am, preparing to embark on this awesome, Joy-filled God adventure to Eastern Europe.

We have been given the gift of Love from Father God, and now it is our turn to lavish His love on those we see, those we feed, hug, and pray for. Get ready to be blown away and captivated by this love flowing through you. “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him!”
1 Corinthians 2:9 NLT. We are his hands of compassion reaching out to the lost, the poor and the sick.

Here are a few things we wanted you to remember as you get ready for the trip, including details you will need to know for our departure day, as well as some last minute packing tips.

Airline Tickets:

We have your tickets…They will be given to you upon your arrival at JFK at the group meeting location. Once in your possession they are your responsibility, so keep them close!!

Meeting Time, Location and Contact Numbers
Important: Experts say you should be at the airport at least 4 or 5 hours prior to an international flight. If you have never been to JFK airport, we want to emphasize that this is no small airport! Please visit this site to get acclimated: www.panynj.gov (under “Airports”, click “Kennedy”).

“ Flight Info/ Payment Schedule”

Please Note: If you signed up after June 1 your name will not be on this list. You should know your itinerary, but if you have a question about your flight, please email me at amy@riverlution.net or call 1-207-465-3192.

*Important* If you have not yet done so, please send me all of your flight itineraries into New York, as well as cell phone numbers (if you will be carrying a cell) ASAP so that you can be reached while traveling. Please send this information to Amy at amy@riverlution.net. This is important for us to have in case your flight is delayed, cancelled or otherwise put behind schedule. In the event that a delay causes you to miss our group flight to Greece, it will be important to try and speak with you or have some way of leaving a message with you. We will do everything on our end to work out a plan for you with the airline, and may have to leave your ticket at the ticket counter. We are not trying to scare you, only give you a very healthy understanding of how important it is to get to the airport early.

In the unlikely event that you miss your flight, you will need to contact Mayde at our emergency contact number so she can forward your flight information and we can arrange to have someone pick you up at the airport.

She can be reached at 319-372-2882 or 319-371-5440

Also, if there is an emergency at home while you are overseas, your family may use this number as an emergency contact line so that you can be reached if necessary. Please give this information to your family members so they can keep it on hand. This is an emergency phone number only.

Passports:

Remember--Keep your passport on you at all times. You need to have a money belt/pouch that will be on you at all times…don’t pack your passport in your luggage!

Luggage Requirements:

The airline requires that each bag is not to exceed seventy (70) pounds and 62 inches (l+w+h). One carry-on bag is allowed, not exceeding eighteen (18) pounds and 45 inches (l+w+h). If you exceed this limit, the airline will charge you an extra fee, and they will also make you stow your intended carry on. These additional charges will be your responsibility.
If you are a musician, your instrument may be checked with the airline as a second piece of luggage, but be sure that the container/case is sturdy, as luggage handlers are not known for their gentleness! Please let us know ahead of time if you are planning to bring a musical instrument. Of course we will make room for your instrument on the bus. Thanks!

Airport Security:

DO NOT carry scissors, tweezers, etc in your carry-on luggage. This is a security violation and these items will be confiscated which may cause unwanted delays.

Packing Reminders:

A travel alarm clock is ESSENTIAL! One person who oversleeps will delay the entire group. Also, earplugs and eye masks are recommended. It is not easy to get a good nights sleep in a new place, especially after jet lag.

Also, bring LOTS of packages of antibacterial hand wipes or gel to carry with you during the day to clean your hands as necessary.
You should bring roll(s) of toilet paper or tissue packets for use, especially in the more rural areas. (Charmin now makes a nice portable travel roll available at Wal*Mart in the paper products section)
If you are bringing any sort of electrical devices you will require a converter adapter, as the electrical current there is 220.

Other recommended items: Imodium, Pepto-Bismol, band-aids, snacks if you are a nibbler, and don’t forget comfortable walking shoes (already worn in as new shoes tend to create blisters)!

Gifts for the Gypsies :

It is best if you put all gifts in separate plastic bags either in your extra “give away” luggage or in your own suitcase. We are not going to be handling the gifts until we get to Bulgaria, and once we do, we will need to have them easily organized.

*Check it Out* We have been able to get several large donations of toothbrushes for the gypsies. It would be a great blessing if everyone could try to bring 4 or 5 tubes of toothpaste to pass out along with the toothbrushes. ALSO, we are preparing a very special feast for 5,000 Gypsies in Kazanlak. We would like to ask if possible that everyone bring one “dollar store” disposable table cloth for this celebration (any color). Apparently, these tablecloths are not available in Bulgaria.

Please direct all other questions to Amy (amy@riverlution.net 207-465-3192).

Happy Packing! Keep drinking the New Wine!!

“ Is anyone thirsty? Come and drink… Come, take your choice of wine-it’s all free!!” Isaiah 55:1
